Check Your Credit Score Regularly: A Tool for Hiring Decisions
Three out of ten American adults admitted that they do not know their credit score. Here’s another reason why you should check credit score regularly.
There are certain occupations that regularly check an applicant’s credit score according to the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) on their report last 2012. These are as follow:
1) Parking booth operator
2) The military
3) Accounting
4) Mortgage loan originator
5) Transportation Security Administrator (TSA)
6) Law enforcement, and
7) Temporary service positions
Not only do they use credit reports are a reliable tool for checking resources and a method of vetting potential candidates, they also use credit reports as a base for hiring decisions. Almost half (47%) of the hiring institutions in America conduct credit report check and stated that this method ensures them an inoffensive environment for working. Through checking credit report, they are able to to prevent theft and reduce legal liability for negligent hiring.
Nevertheless, if a manager really wants someone for the job, their support can overrule a problem credit report (Wilson, 2012). Other than that, the final decision to hire a candidate does not solely rely on their credit report check. Your past working experiences, your competencies and fit with the job and the institution as well as your expertise in the job will be the most important factors to affect their hiring decision.
