If you have a bad credit history, you may be missing the opportunity to get the best deals that credit card companies offer. You may find that the credit cards you prefer to have do require good or excellent credit history. While there are credit cards that are open for people with bad credit, these may be accompanied with high interest rates, high annual fees, expensive late penalty fees, etc.

Is there an easier way for to rebuild your credit history without signing up for a high-maintenance bad credit credit card? The answer is yes! You can improve bad credit by getting a prepaid credit card.

Why Get A Prepaid Credit Card

In the past, prepaid credit cards or debit cards can only be used for payment, not for rebuilding bad credit. Today however, there are issuers of prepaid credit cards that offer credit reporting to the major credit bureaus to help their clients improve their credit history.

If you are not qualified for a credit card that requires a high score, then a prepaid credit card is a smart option. Prepaid debit card issuers are generally lenient in approving applications because they do not need to extend a credit line to a prepaid card holder. The prepaid credit cardholder must first submit a cash deposit in his/her account before using the card for payment.

For those who are having trouble putting their spending in control, a prepaid credit card is recommended. Remember that you can’t use it for payment unless you have existing funds in your account. If you have zero balance in your debit account, there is no chance that you can charge that dress or that pair of shoes to your prepaid card even if it’s on sale.

Prepaid Credit Card –  Just Like A Credit Card
Although a prepaid credit card requires an advanced deposit, you can still enjoy the convenience that a regular credit card provides. A prepaid card is a widely accepted form of payment anywhere in the world. Any store or establishment that accepts credit card payment is likely to accept debit card payment as well, especially if your prepaid card bears the Visa or the MasterCard logo.

You can use your prepaid credit card to reserve airline tickets or hotel rooms from the internet. You can use it to pay for your groceries instead of bringing cash. The only difference is that once you have paid for a purchase, you don’t have to worry about missing your due date or getting charged with a late fee or an interest rate. Yes, a prepaid card is pretty much just like a credit card except that you can get a guaranteed approval and you can use it to rebuild a poor credit rating.
